Surgery for chest tumours and cancer

The chest cavity contains mainly the heart and major blood vessels, two lungs, the trachea and main bronchi, the food pipe (esophagus) and central (mediastinal) tissues which contains the thymus gland.
The tissues in the mediastinum and thymus can form benign and malignant tumours. The lungs can also have benign and malignant tumours. These require prompt diagnosis and surgery.
